CamelBak Lobo Bike Hydration Backpack - Helmet Carry - Magnetic Tube Trap - 100 oz

> 3 dayI use this for bicycle rides up to 4 hours. On a hot day, Ill drink all 3 liters of water and more so I need a large capacity hydration pack. I also pack food, CO2, spare tube, compact tools and a few sheets of toilet paper. All those items earned their spot in my pack at one time or another. My old Camelbak Lobo was a champion, but after 10 years of faithful service, the fabric on the zippered pockets just wore out. So every aspect of the new Lobo will be compared to the old. HYDRATION: This is really why you buy a hydration pack and Camelbak makes one of the best. Both the old and new design uses a fill port large enough to fit my XXL paw inside for cleaning. While the new port is threaded and takes about a half turn to seal, the old port had a cam closure that would seal after a quarter turn. If you dont really tighten the cap securely, the new design will leak. This has happened several times. The old cap had a hinge at the bottom and flopped out of the way when you were adding ice and water. The new Lobo has a hinge at the top and flops down, covering the port when youre trying to fill it. It either takes three hands or and awkward technique to keep the cap out of the way. Old port design wins big. The new drinking tube is long enough to trim to your particular taste. The bite valve hasnt changed over the years. The shut-off valve is slightly better on the new Lobo. New drink tube wins. The old bladder was held securely in place around the fill port with fabric and hook-and-loop. It took two separate zippers to raise a storage pocket to expose the fill port. The new bladder is held in its pocket by a single zipper and its fill handle. The fill port has a T-shaped hook, but there is nothing for it to hook onto. Old and new tie on this one. PACK: This is the second part of the name hydration pack, but its still important for carrying all your other stuff. Both old and new designs have multiple separate compartments and an expandable stuff-pocket. The difference is the old design for the pockets were completely external. By this I mean filling the bladder to max capacity wouldnt take away room for storage. The new design is a little sleeker to look at, but if you pack the inner pocket full of supplies, you wont get your full 3l of water capacity. The new pack has hooks for carrying a bicycle helmet, but I always carry my bicycle helmet on my head to protect my brain in a crash. Who thought these hooks were a good idea?. Old Lobo pack wins big. ERGONOMICS: The new pack has a stiff board in the back to help airflow through the cushioned area. The board might also protect your spine in certain kinds of falls. The old pack was more flexible and conformed to the shape of your back. More contact eases pressure points, but inhibits airflow. If you ride in the cold, this might be a good thing. Another thing about the stiff back board is it makes it harder to load ice cubes into the bladder for hot days. This one comes down to personal preference, but I like the old design better. The shoulder straps on both Lobos are well padded and mesh-ventilated. Both have adjustable chest straps, but the new design has a longer range of adjustment. The new Lobo also comes standard with a magnetic tube keeper. This is really handy and easy to use once you get the hang of unclipping it. I never use the waist straps so Im glad they detach easily. Both designs are the same and really cheap so I didnt feel bad about throwing them away. New Lobo wins. If it seems like Im hard on the new design, its only because the old one was so good. So why did I buy this new one? They dont sell the old one. And even with its flaws, it was still better for my needs than anything else I found on the market. Now a word about their lifetime warranty. Sounds pretty good, huh? Except it doesn’t warrantee the product for your lifetime, but the products, lifetime, whatever that means. They explain it to mean they expect the materials to wear out and you can’t expect warranty coverage past normal wear and tear material lifetime expectancy. I think that’s a weenie way of redefining lifetime warranty, but that’s just my opinion.

> 3 dayDice ser de 9 litros pero las cosas que caben son prácticamente nulas. Tenía dudas de si comprar las camelbak 12 era muy grande pero creo que hubiera sido un mejor opción para tener mayor capacidad

31-10-2024Overall construction of this item is what Ive come to expect from camelback. Its well made with 3 sections for storage. Ive used it a lot and really like how it fits. It breathes decently well on your back, and after a while you almost forget its there. My only gripe is the storage spaces they do give you. When you put in a full bladder of water everything is so tight its hard to actually store anything. I have a few small items and I almost have to drop kick my phone to get it into the pack. Other than that Im very happy with it.

Greater than one weekThis LOBO version fits good, and its an okay option if you do not carry a lot on your pack because it doesnt have much storage space. A bit disappointed with Camelbaks low quality; the materials are not very durable and the tube bends easily, so theres a point where the water stops running while sipping.

> 3 dayThe best praise I can give is that I didnt notice it when riding my mountain bike. No pokes, slipping shoulder straps, leaking on my leg, nothing. The one thing Ill say is that they could have given the option to mount the hose on either side strap, but didnt. The little strap that the mag clip hooks to is only on the right, which is the opposite of where Im used to having my hose. That said, it does hold it where I can drink no hands most of the time(sometimes it slips) And the bite valve is rectangular, you have to bite on the side or nothing. My old Source bag was round, position didnt matter. It does have a nice flip lever to shut the water off though. Simple, if its in your way, its off, out of the way, its on. Now, filling it is a whole different matter, its very awkward to fill all the way because you have to lay it flat, while holding it under the chin(theres a plastic tab to do just that) then pour into the hole without spilling into the rest of the pack. The open topped, fold over and slide the bar on type on my Source bag worked much easier. And since I havent seen it well covered here, heres the pack layout. Theres a top zipper that gets you to the water pouch, you could put things in there, but I wont. Just below/behind this is another zipper with a pouch that goes 2/3 of the way to the bottom of the pack, about 3 below this is an open topped drop in pouch that also goes to the bottom. Just below that is another zipper pouch, still about 12 deep, that goes all the way down as well. Inside this is a shallower pocket with a key clip above it, and two small net pouches that would fit an energy bar or the like. And I dont get the panic about the magnet, at worst, your phone will be on the opposite strap, 4-5 away, I carry mine in the drop in pouch, so no worries. I carry a flip phone in an added pouch on the other strap, easy to get to and use with one hand if youve crashed and broken something and cant get the pack off. Overall, I like it, but what these things cost nowadays is ridiculous. But my old CB lasted 20 years, with only a broken zipper leading to its replacement. If this ones that good, Ill be in the ground before it breaks, turning 60 next month.

> 3 dayCamelback uses a rail type chest strap mounting so you can make adjustments to it. Came of after 4th time using it. Cant get back on. Read the Camelback feeds to how to get it back on unsuccessful. Waste of $100.

> 3 dayI bought a cheaper bag and did not like it at all! I had to return it and decided to pay for a better one. I found this Camelbak and closed my eyes when paying for it (hahaha you can say its expensive!). When I got it, though, I knew I did the right thing. Although the price is high, its a really good bag for cycling and hiking. The pockets are pretty useful for putting your phone, keys, sunscreen, snacks, and other little things you may need. Highly recommended!
