This is a nice set but honestly a simple hole punch is all you need. I returned because a hole punch for 1/2 tubing came with my kit for irrigation and I had no use for the assistance inserting 1/4 tubing into barbed fittings since soaking in hot water first made it easy. Looks like a great system if you want top of the line help if you are setting up an irrigation system and needing assistance with tube fitting insertion.

I was excited because punching the holes was now going to be easy! I thought! I was going to test it on a scrap of drip tubing, punched a hole, then punched a second hole AND THE HANDLE BROKE. Literally the second time it was used, it broke.

This hole punch could not have been easier to use. I never used the 2nd tool but its nice to have it on hand if necessary. Overall, this was a valuable purchase at great price.

The punch works as advertised on 1/2 tubing. The insertion tool only works on straight barbed plugs and cant be used for anything else such as a barbed tee. I wish there were a recess for any of the possible 1/4 fittings. No matter, with severe wrist problems, I had to figure out a way to connect 1/4 tubing onto any connector. Tubing is stiff, so the trick is heat just the very end of the tubing with a hairdryer on hot for just a few seconds and it slips right on. If you heat more than 1/4 at the end tubing it will buckle and permanently deform. Wetting the barbed connector lubes the process too.

The hole punch works well. It is a little hard to be perfectly accurate with it though unless Im doing something wrong. It is hard to see where the hole will end up. If I put a mark on the tube, it gets covered up by the plastic body of the hole punch.

Clamping punch is really slick. Has a removable insert to accommodate variable distribution hose diameters. Has compartment in handle for small connectors. Push punch works well. Has cut out in handle for pushing drip hose and fitting into distribution hose.

Didnt fit any pipe I have regardless of the adapter used. Went in the trash the same day I received it.

Don’t wast your money. The punch did not work AT ALL. The other piece, used to install drippers, worked well for about 10 drippers, then deformed. It is also useless now.

Last year I used a hand drill with 3/16 drill bit to drill holes in 1/2 hose to connect to 1/4 hose. I thought a punch hole tool was useless. I was wrong. With these two tools, the time to set up an irrigation system is much faster than before. The punch tool always does the job with one punch. It never fails. The other tool for insertion is a little difficult to use. It takes some time and strength to put1/4 hose into its groove. But I still use it as it is harder to use bare hand to do the same job.

The clamping punch works well on .700 or 1/2 inch tubing but foes not cut through 1/4 inch. The hand held cutting is deformed and cuts 90 to 95 percent leaving a chad holding the cutout. UPdate the clamping punch will not punch the oval .700 tubing
